Review
Anyone who has ever heard a Throwdown song or record before, should know exactly what to expect on Vendetta — thrashing guitars, ragged vocals, and pounding bass drum kicks. The formula isn’t exactly complex or unique, but somehow Throwdown have made it work in the past…at least in the past.
“Speak the Truth” displays vocalist, Dave Peters ability to reach ranges both deep, and torturing in the same line, which is about as diverse as Vendetta comes. The same level of intensity is brought through the entire album, which is great because, let’s face it, metal is supposed to be powerful. But with that level of speed, it’s clear that Throwdown have sacrificed all diversity; each track pounds through verses with simplistic entertainment, which is great the first couple of times but wears out quickly. We're not asking for Throwdown to completely redefine their sound, but at this rate, you'd be better off sticking with Haymaker since there's not much new here. The redeeming aspect of Vendetta are the virtuous lyrics of songs like “To Live Is To Sacrifice” and “Give My Life” that plant a seed in today’s youth to lead better lives and fight for what they believe in.
“Annihilation” is the most appropriately titled track, because by the time the album nears its’ end with this crushing song blaring through your speakers, you’ll feel too depleted of energy and beaten down to actually start the album over.
